There are two kinds of trips: the ones where you see a place and the ones where you briefly live in it. The first fills camera rolls. The second changes how you think. After years of running both experiments, I'm convinced the month-long stay is the most underrated format in travel.

The economics surprise everyone. Monthly apartment rates run 40 to 60% below nightly pricing, a kitchen eliminates the restaurant tax on every meal, and one round-trip flight amortized over thirty days beats four flights over four long weekends by an enormous margin. Slow travel is usually cheaper than staying home in a major city.
